BioCyc Training and Feedback

This workshop will feature in-depth training on the BioCyc pathway/genome databases and software tools given by BioCyc staff, with a focus on recently added features and functions. An opportunity to provide feedback on future BioCyc development plans will follow the training. Topics covered include:

Introduction to BioCyc

  • Database selection
  • Search operations
  • Principal information pages: Gene, operon, metabolite, reaction, and pathway pages
  • BLAST search, sequence pattern search, extracting sequences

Transcriptomics and Metabolomics data analysis

  • Metabolic network browser
  • Displaying high-throughput data on individual pathways and metabolic network diagrams
  • Omics Dashboard

SmartTables and comparative analysis

  • Using SmartTables to store, share, and analyze lists of genes and metabolites
  • Genome browser and comparative genome browser
  • Comparative analysis tables
